Coaches/ Volunteer Code of Conduct

Arcadia Booster Club Coach/Volunteer Code of Conduct

The purpose of the following Arcadia Booster Club Coach/Volunteer Code of Conduct is to help define appropriate volunteer actions that support the mission of the Arcadia Boosters Club. Coaches and/or team volunteers should read, understand and sign this form prior to participation. Any coach or volunteer who does not follow the guidelines listed below will be asked to leave the sports complex. The appropriate sport VP and President of the Arcadia Booster Club will meet with the coach or volunteer, after 24 hours has passed, to discuss the behavior. If the coach or volunteer continues to not follow the guidelines listed below, the coach or volunteer may lose the privilege of coaching or volunteering with the Arcadia Booster Club. The Arcadia Booster Club’s mission is to provide a healthy, supportive environment for children to enjoy recreation and learn about sportsmanship, teamwork and camaraderie. We aim to help our children grow and flourish by participating in a safe, healthy environment that puts the physical and emotional well-being above any desire to win.

As a coach/volunteer, I therefore agree to the following:

● I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.

● I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.

● I will submit to a background check if volunteering to coach or assistant coach. All coaches will be required to pass a background check paid for by ABC in order to coach.

● I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.

● I will display control, respect and professionalism to all involved within the sport. This includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, parents and other spectators. I will encourage players to do the same and be a great role model.

● I promise to review and practice basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players.

● I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.

● I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.

● I will not cheat or engage in any form of unethical behavior that violates league rules.

● I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of profanity, drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.

● I will refrain from the use of profanity, drugs, tobacco, and alcohol at all youth sports events.

● I will not attend youth sports events under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

● I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.

● I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for all of the skills that I teach.

● I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.
